Steve McCurry is one of the most recognizable modern photographers. He's traveled all over the world to countries like Afghanistan and Indian documenting the landscapes and the people with his camera and showcasing them in museums and National Geographic magazines. His photos stand out because of their provoking subject matter, the clear use of contrast, and the emphasis on vibrant colors. His most famous photo is of entitled "Afghan Girl" and was featured on the cover of a 1985 issue of National Geographic. This image, and his many others, are so revered because of the way the evoke surprising emotions in the viewer. He is an excellent example of true mastery over technique and composition.

Hiroshi Sugimoto
Hiroshi Sugimoto is a black and white photographer who is most famous for his landscapes and his use of contrast. I find him inspiring because he manipulates the whitest whites and blackest blacks to make ordinary things into abstraction. His landscapes are also very unique and striking because he uses very slow shutter speed and very little light, this creates a soft, surreal grain.
